UCSB Graduate Fellowships/Undergraduate Scholarships

Winter/Spring 2009 Competition

Due Date is March 20 – 5:00 pm


Annually 10K$ of funds are available from California Space Grant Consortium through NASA to support innovative graduate/undergraduate research at UCSB related to space science. The areas of research can be varied but must contain elements related to space. Obvious areas of study are remote sensing, astrophysics, and engineering for low gravity. Grants in the past have included such diverse topics as anthropology, extra-terrestrial biology, and geology.

The applicant must be a US citizen and currently enrolled as a student at UCSB.

The application consists of:

  1. Cover page with title, name (signature) and academic advisor name and signature
  2. Two-page text describing research. Figures and references can be in addition to the two pages of text
  3. Budget

The typical award ranges from $500 to $1000, some lesser funds for undergraduate research. Awards will be announced within two to three weeks.
